School Policy

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications‏

  • On-line Free and Reduced Meal Application in the Parent Portal is available for parents to complete electronically.
  • Instructions on how to access your free and reduced meal application are:
    1. Log-in to your Parent Portal.
    2. Click on the Free and Reduced Banner or on Service/Sites (left top side).
    3. Click on the Free and Reduced Meal Application.
    4. The Application will display.
  • If your child was on Free or Reduced Lunch last year, you still must complete an application for the current school year.  The sooner applications are completed the quicker they will be processed, which may avoid delays in the issuance of approved benefits.
  • Remember only one application is needed per household listing all students, or per foster child. Parents are responsible for payment of all meals until a meal application is processed and approved. Please remember that you can use PayPams which is located at PayPams.com.
  • Parents are encouraged to complete the application on-line to expedite processing.
  • All students have received an application at the start of the new school year.

Information for Parents – Initial Entry Kindergarten Registration Procedures

Students entering Miami-Dade County Public School should be enrolled by a parent or guardian. Prior to attending a public school in Florida for the fist time, all students (PK-12) must present the following:

  • A Student Health Examination (HD Form 3040), including proof of a tuberculin skin test, reading of the test, and appropriate follow-up
  • A Certificate of Immunization (HD Form 680)
  • Documentation showing proof of age- Birth Certificate
  • Approved documentation for proof of address FPL Bill/Warranty Deed or Properly Executed Original Lease
  • A completed Disclosure at Time of Registration form (FM-5740ESH)
The procedures for pre-registration of students currently enrolled are contained in the documents Elementary or Secondary Registration and Transmittal Procedures.
Please note that all registration is at the MLC main office (3-story building).

The honor roll criteria

  • The honor roll criteria is as follows: (2nd through 8th Grades)
    Principal’s Honor Roll

    Academic Average 4.0 (All A’s)

    Effort Grades – All 1’s

    Conduct Average 4.0 (All A’s)

    Superior Honor Rol

    Academic Average 3.6 (All A’s and B’s)

    Effort Grades – All 1’s and 2’s

    Conduct Average 3.6 (All A’s and B’s)

    Regular Honor Roll

    Academic Average 3.50-3.59 (All A’s and B’s)

    Effort Grades – All 1’s and 2’s

    Conduct Average 3.0 and Higher (All A’s and B’s)

    Citizenship Award

    Effort Grades – All 1’s and 2’s

    Conduct Average 4.0 (All A’s)

    No more than 5 tardies within a grading period

    Perfect Attendance Honor Roll No absences during the entire marking period

    Please refer to the Tardy Policy and its impact on the Citizenship Honor Roll. Students (2-5) will also be recognized for A+ Attitudes on a quarterly basis.

    Please discuss these awards with your child and monitor his/her grades closely. Encourage excellence in all areas by providing daily motivation. If your son/daughter qualifies for any of there awards, we will send you a special invitation to attend the ceremony.

    Students with perfect attendance all year will be recognized at the final awards assembly.

    Students earning the same honor roll (Academic, Citizenship) all four marking periods will receive an award at the final honor roll assembly. An academic award at the end of the year, is based on the lowest honor roll level earned.

    Awards will be provided by our PTSA and our Dade Partners.
